Margaret Hobbie started selling houses in 1995 after working for sixteen years as a museum curator and director. As a residential specialist, she particularly enjoys working with clients from other states and countries, first-time buyers, and historic properties.

Margaret is a Finger Lakes native and a graduate of Cornell University. She has masters degrees in folklore (Indiana University) and history museum studies (Cooperstown Graduate Programs).

Her husband, Roger Haydon, is Executive Editor at Cornell University Press. They love to travel and in the past few years have visited England, Ireland, Normandy, Portugal, Australia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Germany and Switzerland. Margaret and Roger live in Ithaca’s Belle Sherman neighborhood in a classic Craftsman-style house. They have two adult children who live in the Ithaca area.

When she is not practicing real estate or practicing the piano, Margaret enjoys concerts, movies, volunteer activities and keeping in touch with her large extended family on Facebook. Currently she chairs the Ithaca City Parks Commission, and she serves serves on the advisory boards of the History Center and the Tompkins County Public Library. She is an active volunteer for Historic Ithaca and the Ithaca Board of Realtors. She gave up television in 1983 but is addicted to Netflix and Roku.
