Christa Bissell has worked in the local real estate market since 1986 helping many members of the community find the place they call home. She was the chair of the Ithaca Board of Realtors’ Housing Opportunities Committee for 2 years in 2006 and 2007, and helped to design and organize the first community-wide affordable housing fair…Home Within Reach. She has also worked as the co-chair of the Education Committee for 3 years, promoting continuing education for local realtors.

In 2009 she received the Ithaca Board of Realtor’s Housing Opportunities Award, in 2006 their President’s Award and in 1995 their Realtor Associate of the Year award. In 1999 the Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services (INHS) chose her as Volunteer of the Year. She holds the following designations: Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), and Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES).

Originally from the downstate area, Christa relocated to upstate New York in 1968 to attend college. She has been an active member in the Ithaca community, participating in many areas throughout the years. She was a founding member of the Handwork Cooperative Craft Store, taught gardening and nutrition programs in the Ithaca school system, coordinated high school teams for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, was a board member of the Ithaca Farmers Market, a teacher in the former Aquarian School of Movement Therapy, and a graduate of the IM School of Healing.

She currently volunteers as a member of the INHS Construction Services Committee. Her interests include music, dance and gardening and she has a daughter in college studying art therapy.
